In 2022, the Central Asian granite block market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 71%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, granite block imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together achieving 91% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), constituting a 4.8% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkmenistan (with a CAGR of +25.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported granite blocks and slabs in Central Asia, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 12% share.
