In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of high-tenacity filament yarn of polyesters, when their volume decreased by -69.9% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 1,904%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 406% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Kyrgyzstan represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), making up a 15% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-29.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+15 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -14.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) remains the largest high-tenacity filament polyester yarn supplier in Central Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.

In Kyrgyzstan, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (-35.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (+22.2% per year).

In 2021, overseas purchases of high-tenacity filament yarn of polyesters increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 196%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, high-tenacity filament polyester yarn imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 174%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together comprising 81% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.6% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (8%).
