In value terms, hot-rolled bearing steel bar exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 367%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Uzbekistan (X tons) was the key exporter of hot-rolled bars in bearing steels, mixing up 72% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together creating a 28% share of total exports.

Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of hot-rolled bars in bearing steels. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+27.1%) and Kyrgyzstan (+26.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +27.1% from 2012-2022. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+9.2%).

In 2022, the amount of hot-rolled bars in bearing steels imported in Central Asia expanded slightly to X tons, picking up by 1.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2022. Mongolia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together took near 22% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports into Kazakhstan stood at -1.9%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+72.8%), Uzbekistan (+18.5%) and Mongolia (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +72.8% from 2012-2022. While the share of Tajikistan (+7.3 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+6.9 p.p.) and Mongolia (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-15.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hot-rolled bars in bearing steels in Central Asia, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 9.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 5.1% share.

In Kazakhstan, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports declined by an average annual rate of -1.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+23.2% per year) and Tajikistan (+69.5% per year).
