The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan stood at $X per unit.

Non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports reduced to X units in 2022, which is down by -5.2% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 44%. Kazakhstan was the main importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 54% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Mongolia (13%), Kyrgyzstan (7.7%) and Turkmenistan (5.6%). Tajikistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+23.4%), Kyrgyzstan (+3.9%) and Mongolia (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-5.1%) and Tajikistan (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+17 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mongolia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan saw its share reduced by -4.4%, -6.8% and -10.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) in Central Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 10% share.

In Kazakhstan, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+29.5% per year) and Mongolia (+3.4% per year).
