In 2022, exports of industrial machinery for the preparation of meat or poultry in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, growing by 1,144% on the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of industrial machinery for the preparation of meat or poultry, when their volume decreased by -4% to X units. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 86%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, meat-preparation industrial machinery imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 122% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) was the major importer of industrial machinery for the preparation of meat or poultry, committing 78% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (5.9%). Mongolia (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +21.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+38.9%) and Uzbekistan (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +38.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mongolia (-5.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+13 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+9.8 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+5.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Mongolia (-26.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial machinery for the preparation of meat or poultry in Central Asia, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 28% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan stood at +7.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+14.6% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+6.5% per year).
