Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 224%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids exports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 215%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkmenistan represented the largest exporter of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids in Central Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 76% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), achieving a 22% share of total exports.
Turkmenistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids exports, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012 to 2021. Kazakhstan (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkmenistan increased by +31 percentage points.

Imports in Central Asia
Industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids imports dropped notably to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -16% on 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 521%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids imports shrank slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 242%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan was the major importer of industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids in Central Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 80% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together making up an 18% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids imports into Uzbekistan stood at -8.8%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+45.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +45.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-10.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (-10.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids in Central Asia, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Uzbekistan totaled -2.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-14.3% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-13.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 296%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+7.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
