After four years of growth, the Central Asian insecticide market decreased by -25.5% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, posted a resilient expansion. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, insecticide production declined sharply to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production saw a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Central Asia
In 2021, overseas shipments of insecticides increased by 181% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,850%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, insecticide exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,229%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 75% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), achieving a 22% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +34.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+36.8%) and Kyrgyzstan (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +36.8% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+22 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-4.8 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (-17.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest insecticide supplier in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, insecticide exports increased at an average annual rate of +23.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+191.2% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -36.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 69% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+113.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
After four years of growth, overseas purchases of insecticides decreased by -14.1% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 75%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, insecticide imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 109%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) were the largest importers of insecticides in Central Asia, together constituting 78% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Turkmenistan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 17% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +30.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 91% of total imports. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.2%.
Among the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +25.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -6.5% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, insecticide import price decreased by -7.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 39%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
