At the same time, Uzbekistan (+26.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest optical radiation instruments supplier in Central Asia, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 4.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +69.8%.

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -50.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 260% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per unit.

Imports in Central Asia
For the fourth year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of instruments using optical radiations, which increased by 2.3% to X units in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, optical radiation instruments imports rose notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 59%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the key importer of instruments using optical radiations in Central Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near 66% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X units) took a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (6.5%), Mongolia (6.4%) and Turkmenistan (6.1%). Tajikistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to optical radiation instruments imports into Kazakhstan stood at +15.0%. At the same time, Mongolia (+15.1%), Kyrgyzstan (+14.2%), Tajikistan (+10.2%) and Turkmenistan (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +15.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+13 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkmenistan saw its share reduced by -10.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported instruments using optical radiations in Central Asia, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +11.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+2.6% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+12.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 9.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Turkmenistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+6.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
