Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, invalid carriage imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 75% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and Mongolia (X units), together comprising an 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkmenistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) - each reached a 6.7% share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+31.2%) and Turkmenistan (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012-2022. Kyrgyzstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-2.9%) and Mongolia (-8.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+9.5 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+6.3 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+6.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia saw its share reduced by -3.3% and -19.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported invalid carriages not mechanically propelled in Central Asia, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan stood at +9.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (-1.6% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+2.8% per year).
