In general, exports, however, showed a moderate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 98%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lamp holder exports plummeted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 311%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan represented the largest exporter of lamp holders, plugs and sockets in Central Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 66% of total exports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (6.9%). The following exporters - Mongolia (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each reached an 8% share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+51.4%) and Mongolia (+16.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +51.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-19.3%) and Uzbekistan (-34.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Mongolia increased by +19, +19, +6.8 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Tajikistan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 90% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +54.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 216% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+55.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of lamp holders, plugs and sockets decreased by -13.5% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lamp holder imports totaled $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.7% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 54%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan represented the major importer of lamp holders, plugs and sockets in Central Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 49% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons). All these countries together took near 47% share of total imports. Mongolia (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+15.6%) and Mongolia (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-1.1%), Kyrgyzstan (-5.4%) and Turkmenistan (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+24 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Tajikistan (-2.4 p.p.), Turkmenistan (-7.7 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (-17.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest lamp holder importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together accounting for 88% of total imports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +58.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lamp holder import price increased by +67.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 104% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
