The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 2,643%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Uzbekistan (X square meters) represented roughly 99% of total exports in 2021.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the linoleum exports, with a CAGR of -29.1% from 2012 to 2021. Uzbekistan (+98 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) also remains the largest linoleum supplier in Central Asia.

In 2021, purchases abroad of linoleum decreased by -25.7% to X square meters for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X square meters in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X square meters) represented the key importer of linoleum, mixing up 58% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X square meters) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (14%) and Tajikistan (9%). Turkmenistan (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -2.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+28.1%) and Uzbekistan (+19.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +28.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-1.1%) and Turkmenistan (-16.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+15 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+8.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan saw its share reduced by -10.4% and -12% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported linoleum in Central Asia, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tajikistan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 12% share.

In Kazakhstan, linoleum imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tajikistan (+20.3% per year) and Uzbekistan (+26.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per square meter in 2021, with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per square meter), while Turkmenistan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
