Liquid Supply Meter Market Size in Central Asia

In 2021, the Central Asian liquid supply meter market increased by 4.1% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the amount of liquid supply or production meters exported in Central Asia shrank remarkably to X units, dropping by -60.7% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 624%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquid supply meter exports reduced notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 681%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 95% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), constituting a 4.7% share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+12.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+4.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-4.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest liquid supply meter supplier in Central Asia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 9.2% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan stood at +12.4%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 77% against the previous year. Export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, liquid supply meter export price increased by +80.7% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+4.5%).

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, the amount of liquid supply or production meters imported in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, rising by 46% against the previous year. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquid supply meter imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a temperate expansion. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 79% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X units) held a 7.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (5.7%) and Kyrgyzstan (4.9%). Turkmenistan (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+100.8%), Tajikistan (+68.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (+32.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +100.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-19.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +8.1, +7.4, +5.6 and +4.3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest liquid supply meter importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together accounting for 91% of total imports. These countries were followed by Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, which together accounted for a further 5.3%.

Among the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +53.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 62%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (-0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
