Kyrgyzstan (+5.4 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest solid-liquid separator supplier in Central Asia, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled -6.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+17.2% per year) and Uzbekistan (+540.5% per year).

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per thousand units in 2022, picking up by 47% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per thousand units), while Kazakhstan ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+16.9%).

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, solid-liquid separator imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 54%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) represented the key importer of machinery for solid-liquid separation, mixing up 55% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), Mongolia (X units), Turkmenistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units), together achieving a 42% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -4.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+25.6%), Tajikistan (+19.3%), Mongolia (+10.8%) and Kyrgyzstan (+8.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +25.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-9.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+21 p.p.), Mongolia (+7.2 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+2.8 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkmenistan (-8.2 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (-24.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machinery for solid-liquid separation in Central Asia, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 9.6% share.

In Kazakhstan, solid-liquid separator imports contracted by an average annual rate of -3.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+4.3% per year) and Turkmenistan (-11.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per thousand units in 2022, reducing by -3.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 20%. The level of import peaked at $X per thousand units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per thousand units), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
