Kazakhstan (X units) and Mongolia (X units) prevails in exports structure, together generating 96% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mongolia (with a CAGR of +87.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest food manufacture machinery supplier in Central Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

In general, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 194%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, food manufacture machinery imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 218% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the key importer of machinery for the preparation or manufacture of food or drink in Central Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 72% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), mixing up a 20% share of total imports. Mongolia (X units), Tajikistan (X units) and Turkmenistan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to food manufacture machinery imports into Kazakhstan stood at +19.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+186.4%) and Tajikistan (+15.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +186.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-3.0%) and Turkmenistan (-9.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Mongolia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 94% of total imports. Tajikistan and Turkmenistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 3.9%.
Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +20.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -20.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 80%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
