In 2022, the amount of men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) exported in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, growing by 45% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-knitted men apparel exports soared to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +94.9% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Uzbekistan was the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which resulted at 50% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X units), Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Turkmenistan (X units), together mixing up a 48% share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) exports, with a CAGR of +15.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+4.0%) and Tajikistan (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-10.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan increased by +50 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.

In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, approximately reflecting the previous year. Export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-knitted men apparel export price increased by +19.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 62%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) increased by 66% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a deep contraction. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-knitted men apparel imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest importer of men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) in Central Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 55% of total imports in 2022. Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (14%) and Tajikistan (5.9%). Mongolia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-knitted men apparel imports into Kazakhstan stood at -9.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+23.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +23.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-4.4%), Mongolia (-12.6%) and Kyrgyzstan (-15.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+14 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+5.5 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-21.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) in Central Asia, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 9% share of total imports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 3.3% share.
In Kazakhstan, non-knitted men apparel imports shrank by an average annual rate of -4.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kyrgyzstan (-3.6% per year) and Tajikistan (-8.8% per year).
