The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 1,503% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Kyrgyzstan represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 78% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), comprising an 18% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +102.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+111.4%) and Kazakhstan (+77.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +111.4% from 2012-2022. While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+78 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+4.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-82.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) remains the largest mixes and doughs supplier in Central Asia, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kyrgyzstan stood at +83.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+71.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+51.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-3.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, mixes and doughs imports in Central Asia skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 23% against 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, mixes and doughs imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 57%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2022. Mongolia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 14% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mixes and doughs imports into Kazakhstan stood at +16.5%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+46.4%), Mongolia (+17.8%), Kyrgyzstan (+16.4%) and Tajikistan (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +46.4% from 2012-2022. Kazakhstan (+14 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+6.5 p.p.) and Mongolia (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Tajikistan saw its share reduced by -3.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mixes and doughs in Central Asia, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled +10.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+52.0% per year) and Mongolia (+16.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
