Mixed Juices Market Size in Central Asia

In 2022, the Central Asian mixed juices market decreased by -16.5% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total consumption indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, mixed juices production expanded remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -5.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Central Asia

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices increased by 109% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 233% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mixed juices exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 63% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), constituting a 30% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mixed juices exports from Uzbekistan stood at -2.3%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-2.6%) and Kazakhstan (-7.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+63 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -11.5%, -22.4% and -28.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest mixed juices supplier in Central Asia, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan totaled +10.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (+5.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (-11.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 52% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices, when their volume decreased by -42.4% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a noticeable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, mixed juices imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2022. Mongolia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 14% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mixed juices imports into Kazakhstan stood at +2.8%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+122.6%), Tajikistan (+24.9%), Mongolia (+4.5%) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +122.6% from 2012-2022. Uzbekistan (+6.2 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -2.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices in Central Asia, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 4.9% share.

In Kazakhstan, mixed juices imports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mongolia (+4.0% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+3.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
