For the third consecutive year, Central Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of network communications equipment, which increased by 1,027% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the major exporter of network communications equipment in Central Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), achieving a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to network communications equipment exports from Kazakhstan stood at +63.3%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+1,444.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +1,444.5% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by +36 and +12 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest network communications equipment supplier in Central Asia, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 0.5% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan stood at +77.5%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 1,201% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a resilient expansion. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.7%).

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of network communications equipment decreased by -30.5% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 86%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, network communications equipment imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 434%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X units) was the key importer of network communications equipment, generating 77% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Uzbekistan (6.5%). Turkmenistan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to network communications equipment imports into Kazakhstan stood at -7.3%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+25.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +25.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-4.3%) and Uzbekistan (-11.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kyrgyzstan (+13 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+6.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -19.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported network communications equipment in Central Asia, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 4.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 1.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +13.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+29.0% per year) and Turkmenistan (-6.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -22.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 188% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+46.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
