Exports in Central Asia
Grease fittings and oil seals exports soared to X units in 2021, jumping by 52% compared with the year before. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 146%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, grease fittings and oil seals exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X units) was the major exporter of non-automatic lubricating pots, greasing nipples, oil seal rings and hand wheels, achieving 62% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Turkmenistan (X units), together making up a 29% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units), Tajikistan (X units) and Mongolia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -15.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+210.3%), Uzbekistan (+21.6%) and Mongolia (+8.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +210.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tajikistan (-5.9%) and Turkmenistan (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kyrgyzstan (+24 p.p.), Turkmenistan (+5.3 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -35.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest grease fittings and oil seals supplier in Central Asia, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with an 11% share.
In Kazakhstan, grease fittings and oil seals exports declined by an average annual rate of -13.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+17.1% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+151.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, rising by 3.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 145%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
For the third consecutive year, Central Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of non-automatic lubricating pots, greasing nipples, oil seal rings and hand wheels, which increased by 204% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, grease fittings and oil seals imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
Kyrgyzstan was the major importing country with an import of around X units, which resulted at 58% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units). All these countries together took near 38% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +61.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tajikistan (+68.5%) and Uzbekistan (+16.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +68.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-1.5%) and Kazakhstan (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan increased by +56, +7.7 and +4.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 80% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, which together accounted for a further 13%.
Among the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +63.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -26.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 96%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
