Exports in Central Asia
In 2022, overseas shipments of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics increased by 399% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 477% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), committing a 32% share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics exports, with a CAGR of +153.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+43.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Uzbekistan (+67 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+19 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +141.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 126% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+1.3%).

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics, when their volume increased by 43% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 109%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the main importer of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics in Central Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 57% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 36% share of total imports. The following importers - Mongolia (X tons), Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 6.9% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Mongolia (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics in Central Asia, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 29% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 3% share.
In Kazakhstan, imports of non-cellular plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of plastics increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+16.9% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+7.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -1.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
