Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkmenistan (X units), creating a 9.5% share of total exports.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers exports, with a CAGR of +12.3% from 2012 to 2021. Turkmenistan (-8.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan increased by +39 percentage points.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers supplier in Central Asia, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkmenistan ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers exports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the period from 2012-2021.

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -14.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 104%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Turkmenistan amounted to $X per unit.

Imports in Central Asia
For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in purchases abroad of non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers, which increased by 29% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 96%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the key importer of non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers in Central Asia, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 69% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Mongolia (X units), together creating a 27% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+33.5%), Mongolia (+22.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +33.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+20 p.p.) and Mongolia (+4.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-9.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers in Central Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 5.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +7.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+36.4% per year) and Mongolia (+9.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -18.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Mongolia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
