The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, nuts (prepared or preserved) exports contracted modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 412% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Exports from Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+24.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +24.2% from 2012-2021. Uzbekistan (+97 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -68.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest nuts (prepared or preserved) supplier in Central Asia, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 2.3% share of total exports.
In Uzbekistan, nuts (prepared or preserved) exports expanded at an average annual rate of +23.3% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 26%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+16.7%).

Imports in Central Asia
For the fifth year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in overseas purchases of nuts (prepared or preserved), which increased by 25% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, nuts (prepared or preserved) imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +106.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan represented the major importer of nuts (prepared or preserved) in Central Asia, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 59% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together committing a 36% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to nuts (prepared or preserved) imports into Kazakhstan stood at +9.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+38.4%), Kyrgyzstan (+32.0%) and Tajikistan (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +38.4% from 2012-2021. While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+22 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+7.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tajikistan (-1.6 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (-7.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported nuts (prepared or preserved) in Central Asia, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan totaled +9.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kyrgyzstan (+10.4% per year) and Uzbekistan (+30.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
