Uzbekistan was the key exporter of carrots and turnips in Central Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 80% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), making up a 15% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to carrot and turnip exports from Uzbekistan stood at +21.3%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+44.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +17.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 109%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 69%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
