Exports by Country
Uzbekistan dominates exports structure, reaching X cubic meters, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X cubic meters), creating a 9.9% share of total exports.
Exports from Uzbekistan decreased at an average annual rate of -19.3% from 2012 to 2022. Kazakhstan (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +90 percentage points.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest oxygen supplier in Central Asia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 8.1% share of total exports.
In Uzbekistan, oxygen exports decreased by an average annual rate of -16.3% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, growing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 66%. The level of export peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per cubic meter), while Kazakhstan totaled $X per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+3.8%).

Imports in Central Asia
Oxygen imports surged to X cubic meters in 2022, rising by 28% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, oxygen imports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 83%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest importing country with an import of around X cubic meters, which finished at 73% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X cubic meters) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkmenistan (8%). Uzbekistan (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -10.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+71.6%) and Turkmenistan (+29.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +71.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-11.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+16 p.p.), Turkmenistan (+7.7 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-26.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oxygen in Central Asia, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan totaled -17.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+33.5% per year) and Turkmenistan (-3.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, falling by -13.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per cubic meter), while Uzbekistan ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
