Lock And Key Market Size in Central Asia

The Central Asian lock and key market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after four years of decline. In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the key exporter of padlocks, locks and keys of base metal, committing 61% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together took near 38% share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+291.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In terms of the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +254.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-2.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, lock and key imports in Central Asia surged to X tons, with an increase of 33% compared with the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 115%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lock and key imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) represented the largest importers of padlocks, locks and keys of base metal in Central Asia, together finishing at near 68% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons), together mixing up a 29% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
