The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 543% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 744% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Kyrgyzstan prevails in sowing structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 91% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), constituting a 6.5% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Kyrgyzstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing exports, with a CAGR of +107.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+55.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-35.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 3.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 567%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+19.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2022, the amount of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing imported in Central Asia skyrocketed to X tons, jumping by 162% against 2021. In general, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 206% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 113%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Uzbekistan was the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 23% share of total imports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing imports, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+11.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Uzbekistan (+74 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-21.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest seed, fruit and spore used for sowing importing markets in Central Asia were Uzbekistan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X).

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +18.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -59.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan stood at $X per ton.
