Imports in Central Asia

Paper tablecloths imports rose remarkably to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 11% compared with 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, paper tablecloths imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 29%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Kazakhstan was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 63% of total imports. Mongolia (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (8.4%) and Uzbekistan (4.7%). Tajikistan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -1.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+28.6%), Tajikistan (+14.1%), Kyrgyzstan (+1.8%) and Uzbekistan (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +28.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-12.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by +17, +4.7 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported paper tablecloths and serviettes in Central Asia, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mongolia ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 7.2% share.
