Exports from Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -16.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+15.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +15.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mongolia (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mongolia (+11 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (+6.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-17.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest solar cells and light-emitting diodes supplier in Central Asia, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mongolia ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
