In value terms, pineapple exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 106%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 91% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), achieving a 6.5% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to pineapple exports from Kazakhstan stood at +50.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+2,268.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +2,268.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+82 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -46.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest pineapple supplier in Central Asia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 4.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +44.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+3,515.2% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-12.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+52.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, approx. X tons of pineapples were imported in Central Asia; with an increase of 79% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 182% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pineapple imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a slight expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 162% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) represented the key importer of pineapples in Central Asia, generating 95% of total import. The following importers - Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up 4.8% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Turkmenistan (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest pineapple importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 96% share of total imports.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +42.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 6.8% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
