Cement Pipe Market Size in Central Asia
The Central Asian cement pipe market contracted rapidly to $X in 2022, falling by -21.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a prominent increase. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.
Cement Pipe Production in Central Asia
In value terms, cement pipe production fell modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Cement Pipe Exports
Exports in Central Asia
After four years of decline, overseas shipments of pipes and other articles of cement increased by 45% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 3,584%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cement pipe exports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 5,222% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), achieving a 31% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pipes and other articles of cement exports, with a CAGR of -3.7% from 2012 to 2022. Kyrgyzstan (-34.2%) and Uzbekistan (-50.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +31 and +22 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest cement pipe supplying countries in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 100% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of -8.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -29.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 83%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (-1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Cement Pipe Imports
Imports in Central Asia
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of pipes and other articles of cement decreased by -29.2% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 80%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cement pipe imports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the largest importer of pipes and other articles of cement, comprising 70% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons), generating a 24% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cement pipe imports into Kazakhstan stood at -3.9%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+3.2%) and Mongolia (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by +13, +4.1 and +3.1 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pipes and other articles of cement in Central Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mongolia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports.
In Kazakhstan, cement pipe imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mongolia (+4.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (+20.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Mongolia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+16.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
