Exports in Central Asia

After six years of growth, overseas shipments of plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins decreased by -14.8% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 2,522%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, plastic bath or sink exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 668%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The biggest shipments were from Uzbekistan (X units), together resulting at 99% of total export.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins exports, with a CAGR of +26.9% from 2012 to 2022. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Mongolia (8.4%) and Turkmenistan (4.8%). Tajikistan (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic bath or sink imports into Kazakhstan stood at -7.0%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+16.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins in Central Asia, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 10% share.

In Kazakhstan, plastic bath or sink imports decreased by an average annual rate of -2.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+32.4% per year) and Mongolia (-11.0% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
