Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of plastic fittings for furniture, when their volume decreased by -31.5% to X tons. In general, exports, however, posted temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 2,661% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings exports contracted notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,354% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then declined notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 86% of total exports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 8.4% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (5.6%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic furniture fittings exports from Uzbekistan stood at +3.0%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+31.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +31.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-23.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+86 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+7.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-93.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest plastic furniture fittings supplier in Central Asia, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan stood at +16.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+21.4% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-14.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 228% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, imports of plastic fittings for furniture in Central Asia dropped to X tons, shrinking by -12.3% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 151%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 63%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the key importer of plastic fittings for furniture, mixing up 51% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Mongolia (X tons), together comprising a 45% share of total imports. Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Mongolia (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic furniture fittings importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Mongolia ($X), together comprising 93% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Mongolia, with a CAGR of +32.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 20% against the previous year. Import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 95% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
