The Central Asian market for plastic hoses and hose fittings was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after four years of decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 341% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, plastic hose and hose fitting exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 251%. Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together comprising 91% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkmenistan (X tons), generating an 8.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkmenistan (with a CAGR of +73.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest plastic hose and hose fitting supplying countries in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X), with a combined 99% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkmenistan, with a CAGR of +31.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 49% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+30.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of plastic hoses and hose fittings, when their volume increased by 44% to X tons. In general, imports showed a slight expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic hose and hose fitting imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +83.4% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 71% of total imports in 2021. Turkmenistan (X tons) held an 8.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kyrgyzstan (6.9%) and Uzbekistan (5.5%). The following importers - Tajikistan (X tons) and Mongolia (X tons) - each amounted to a 7.7% share of total imports.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastic hoses and hose fittings imports, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+4.0%) and Mongolia (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Tajikistan (-3.3%), Kyrgyzstan (-6.6%) and Turkmenistan (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by +24 and +5.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic hoses and hose fittings in Central Asia, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 7.7% share.

In Kazakhstan, plastic hose and hose fitting imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+40.1% per year) and Turkmenistan (-8.5% per year).
