In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of pliers, pincers and tweezers for nonmedical use, when their volume increased by 130% to X tons. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of pliers, pincers and tweezers for nonmedical use, which increased by 14% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 131% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, pliers and pincers imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 204%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the key importer of pliers, pincers and tweezers for nonmedical use, achieving 54% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a 32% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (5.3%). The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) - each recorded a 7.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +30.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
