Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plum and sloe exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,105% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Uzbekistan prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2022. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plums and sloes exports, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012 to 2022. Kyrgyzstan (-14.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan increased by +97 percentage points.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of plums and sloes increased by 27% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plum and sloe imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 87%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Kazakhstan was the main importer of plums and sloes in Central Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 77% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), creating a 21% share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -13.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+22.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +22.9% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plums and sloes in Central Asia, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports.

In Kazakhstan, plum and sloe imports decreased by an average annual rate of -13.7% over the period from 2012-2022.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -29.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild slump.
