The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, polycarbonate exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1,937%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 94% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 6.2% share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the polycarbonates (in primary forms) exports, with a CAGR of +558.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+19.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Uzbekistan (+94 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -93.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest polycarbonate supplier in Central Asia, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan amounted to +712.9%.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 64% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of polycarbonates (in primary forms) decreased by -32.2% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 567% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, polycarbonate imports fell significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 916% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Uzbekistan prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 90% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), achieving a 5.9% share of total imports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Uzbekistan increased at an average annual rate of +26.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+37.9%) and Kazakhstan (+7.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +37.9% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +90 and +3.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polycarbonates (in primary forms) in Central Asia, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Uzbekistan totaled +27.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+68.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+3.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 52%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+22.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
