In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Central Asian positive displacement pump market, when its value decreased by -5.6% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The following exporters - Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Mongolia (X units) - each reached a 6.5% share of total exports.

Exports from Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mongolia (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +11.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-6.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (-47.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+67 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+19 p.p.) and Mongolia (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-88.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest positive displacement pump supplier in Central Asia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 4% share.

In Kazakhstan, positive displacement pump exports declined by an average annual rate of -14.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (-34.3% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (-42.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -61.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 806% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, imports of positive displacement pumps and hand pumps in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, growing by 66% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant increase. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, positive displacement pump imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 9.6% share.
