The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, postcard exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 230%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan dominates exports structure, reaching X kg, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X kg), creating a 6.7% share of total exports. Mongolia (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to postcard exports from Kazakhstan stood at +16.1%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+27.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Mongolia (-17.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest postcard supplier in Central Asia, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, postcard exports increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+29.6% per year) and Mongolia (-4.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 93% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a buoyant expansion. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+16.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia
For the fourth consecutive year, Central Asia recorded decline in supplies from abroad of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards, which decreased by -33.7% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 169% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, postcard imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) was the key importer of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards in Central Asia, creating 93% of total import. The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) - together made up 6.2% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +17.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest postcard importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Tajikistan ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), with a combined 94% share of total imports.
Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +19.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by 125% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
