From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to vitamin exports from Kazakhstan stood at +46.9%. At the same time, Tajikistan (+164.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +164.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Tajikistan (+4.7 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest vitamin supplier in Central Asia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tajikistan ($X), with a 0.6% share of total exports.

In Kazakhstan, vitamin exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the period from 2012-2021.

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -69.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price faced a sharp downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 101%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan totaled $X per ton.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 136% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vitamin imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 206% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the four major importers of provitamins and vitamins, namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons), committing a 7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +8.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vitamin importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together comprising 89% of total imports.

Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +4.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 35% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
