Exports in Central Asia
Rare gases exports surged to X cubic meters in 2022, increasing by 38% against the year before. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 1,595%. The volume of export peaked at X cubic meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rare gases exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 521% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Kazakhstan (X cubic meters), together resulting at 100% of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the rare gases (excluding argon) exports, with a CAGR of +8.2% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest rare gases supplier in Central Asia.
In Kazakhstan, rare gases exports increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, declining by -20.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 107%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to +2.3% per year.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of rare gases (excluding argon) were imported in Central Asia; growing by 97% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, rare gases imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kazakhstan (X cubic meters) represented the key importer of rare gases (excluding argon), making up 65% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X cubic meters), generating a 30% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkmenistan (X cubic meters) and Mongolia (X cubic meters) - each finished at a 3.8% share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+114.8%) and Mongolia (+34.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +114.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+30 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -10% and -21.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported rare gases (excluding argon) in Central Asia, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with a 5% share.
In Kazakhstan, rare gases imports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+30.4% per year) and Turkmenistan (-4.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per cubic meter, reducing by -38.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 32%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkmenistan ($X per cubic meter), while Uzbekistan ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkmenistan (+1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
