In 2022, the average raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield in Central Asia was estimated at X tons per ha, approximately equating 2021 figures. In general, the yield, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the yield increased by 1.7%. The level of yield peaked at X tons per ha in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

For the fourth year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries, which increased by 424% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 8,120% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 4,764%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The biggest shipments were from Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together reaching 99% of total export.

Kyrgyzstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries exports, with a CAGR of +34.9% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) also remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry supplier in Central Asia.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries decreased by -33.2% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 449% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 198% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 82% of total imports in 2022. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held near 14% share of total imports. Mongolia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports into Kazakhstan stood at +9.3%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+2,438.7%), Kyrgyzstan (+46.0%) and Mongolia (+37.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +2,438.7% from 2012-2022. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
