In general, imports, however, faced a dramatic decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 153%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cows skin imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 99%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) represented roughly 96% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 54% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
