Exports in Central Asia
In 2022, approx. X tons of recovered fibre pulp were exported in Central Asia; waning by -44.6% against 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 1,703% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 856%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the key exporter of recovered fibre pulp in Central Asia, constituting 100% of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the recovered fibre pulp exports, with a CAGR of +20.8% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest recovered fibre pulp supplier in Central Asia.
In Kazakhstan, recovered fibre pulp exports expanded at an average annual rate of +25.2% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 115% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 564%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to +3.6% per year.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, imports of recovered fibre pulp in Central Asia reached X tons, approximately mirroring 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 78% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports reached $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 75% of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Uzbekistan (9.7%). Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -5.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+89.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +89.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-27.5%) and Uzbekistan (-28.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Tajikistan (+12 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+9.7 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-17.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported recovered fibre pulp in Central Asia, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tajikistan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with an 11% share.
In Kazakhstan, recovered fibre pulp imports declined by an average annual rate of -7.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tajikistan (+65.9% per year) and Uzbekistan (-15.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 8.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+18.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
