Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, starch manufacture residues exports declined significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 336% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Kazakhstan (X tons), together reaching 100% of total export.
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the residues of starch manufacture exports, with a CAGR of -6.3% from 2012 to 2022. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) also remains the largest starch manufacture residues supplier in Central Asia.

Imports in Central Asia
In 2022, the amount of residues of starch manufacture imported in Central Asia shrank sharply to X tons, which is down by -20.8% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 295% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, starch manufacture residues imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 142%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the largest importer of residues of starch manufacture, constituting 74% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (10%).
Kyrgyzstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the residues of starch manufacture imports, with a CAGR of +16.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+14.6%) and Kazakhstan (+6.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Kyrgyzstan (+17 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-14.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported residues of starch manufacture in Central Asia, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 24% share of total imports.
In Kyrgyzstan, starch manufacture residues imports increased at an average annual rate of +25.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+3.3% per year) and Uzbekistan (+13.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, waning by -35.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 90%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
