Exports in Central Asia
Road tractor for semi-trailer exports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, growing by 59% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 91% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, road tractor for semi-trailer exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 286% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Uzbekistan represented the largest exporter of road tractors for semi-trailers in Central Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 59% of total exports in 2021. Mongolia (X units) held a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkmenistan (10%) and Kazakhstan (7.1%). Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the road tractors for semi-trailers exports, with a CAGR of +14.3% from 2012 to 2021. Mongolia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Turkmenistan (-5.8%), Kazakhstan (-22.6%) and Kyrgyzstan (-32.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) remains the largest road tractor for semi-trailer supplier in Central Asia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 6.6% share.
In Uzbekistan, road tractor for semi-trailer exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-20.6% per year) and Mongolia (+2.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 30% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 144% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Road tractor for semi-trailer imports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 98% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 141%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, road tractor for semi-trailer imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 108% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +146.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkmenistan (-12.5%) and Kyrgyzstan (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+20 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+12 p.p.) and Tajikistan (+4.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -11.2% and -25.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest road tractor for semi-trailer importing markets in Central Asia were Kazakhstan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Turkmenistan ($X), together comprising 92% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +157.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -23.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
