Uzbekistan (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units) prevails in exports structure, together mixing up 83% of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.3% share, followed by Mongolia (6.4%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest safety headgear supplier in Central Asia, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 20% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Kazakhstan stood at +4.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+99.3% per year) and Mongolia (+41.7% per year).

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 1,634% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight decline. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mongolia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+67.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, safety headgear imports in Central Asia skyrocketed to X units, increasing by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 90%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, safety headgear imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was near 78% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), mixing up a 9.6% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X units), Mongolia (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+37.1%), Kyrgyzstan (+10.2%) and Tajikistan (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +37.1% from 2012-2021. Mongolia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Uzbekistan (+9.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Mongolia (-2.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported safety headgear in Central Asia, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tajikistan ($X), with a 5.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Mongolia, with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Kazakhstan amounted to +6.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Tajikistan (+12.9% per year) and Mongolia (+4.3% per year).
