In value terms, seat production stood at $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production continues to indicate a deep reduction. In 2021, approx. X tons of seats were exported in Central Asia; with a decrease of -23.1% against 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 289% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, seat exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 225% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) represented the key exporter of seats, comprising 64% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together achieving a 31% share of total exports. Mongolia (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to seat exports from Kazakhstan stood at +14.9%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+144.2%), Turkmenistan (+29.5%) and Mongolia (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +144.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-10.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+26 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+14 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Mongolia (-3.1 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (-35.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest seat supplying countries in Central Asia were Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 95% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +54.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 85% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+8.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, approx. X tons of seats were imported in Central Asia; rising by 52% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +86.9% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, seat imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +97.4% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the main importer of seats, achieving 61% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons), together generating a 33% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+223.5%) and Mongolia (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +223.5% from 2012-2021. Tajikistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-1.1%) and Turkmenistan (-6.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Kazakhstan increased by +7.4, +2.4 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported seats in Central Asia, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkmenistan, with an 8.6% share.

In Kazakhstan, seat imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+144.4% per year) and Turkmenistan (-3.8% per year).
