Exports in Central Asia

In 2021, approx. X units of self-propelled full-rotation excavators and bulldozers were exported in Central Asia; increasing by 13% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 177% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, full-rotation excavator exports rose sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 344% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The biggest shipments were from Mongolia (X units), Kazakhstan (X units), Tajikistan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units), together amounting to 92% of total export. It was distantly followed by Turkmenistan (X units), creating a 6.1% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Mongolia (with a CAGR of +44.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mongolia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Tajikistan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 80% of total exports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, which together accounted for a further 20%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +44.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 60% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Turkmenistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+43.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of self-propelled full-rotation excavators and bulldozers decreased by -1.8% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 233% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, full-rotation excavator imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 190% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units) represented roughly 76% of total imports in 2021. Mongolia (X units) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Tajikistan (4.8%). Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +16.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Mongolia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 89% of total imports.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Central Asia amounted to $X per unit, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Tajikistan ($X per unit) and Mongolia ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) and Kazakhstan ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
