Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 69%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Kazakhstan represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 65% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by Mongolia (5.5%). The following importers - Turkmenistan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - each recorded a 4.4% share of total imports.
Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of glass fibre filaments, rovings, chopped strands, and staple glass fibre articles. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+7.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +7.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Tajikistan (-1.1%), Turkmenistan (-13.1%) and Mongolia (-20.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
