Soya Sauce Market Size in Central Asia

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Central Asian soya sauce market, when its value increased by 12% to $X. For the third year in a row, Central Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of soya sauce, which increased by 18% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, soya sauce imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Kazakhstan was the major importer of soya sauce in Central Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 55% of total imports in 2022. Mongolia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 20% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (16%) and Uzbekistan (8.4%).

Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+51.6%), Kyrgyzstan (+19.2%) and Mongolia (+17.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported soya sauce in Central Asia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mongolia ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 13% share.

In Kazakhstan, soya sauce imports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mongolia (+12.1% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+16.4% per year).
